Finpecia Finasteride
Certain men suffer from pattern hair loss for hereditory reasons. As the male grows older, the presence of the chemical DHT acts upon the hair follicle by shrinking it, stunting growth and eventually rendering it unable to grow hair at all. Reducing the amount of DHT in the scalp can slow down this process, allowing the hair follicle to continue growing and promote re-growth in certain areas. The medcine is aimed at promoting growth in the vertex and mid scalp. At present there is no evidence to support finasteride working on receding hairline at the temples.
Finpecia tablets are taken once a day and continually. After 3 - 6 months, you may start to see re-growth. If the treatment is not visibly working over 12 months, it is unlikely that continuing on this course would be of benefit.
No drugs have been identified to react with finasteride but we recommend discussing this with your GP should you require further information.
- Most importantly, Finpecia should not be taken by women at any stage. It must also never be handled by women during pregancy, as this could harm the unborn child.
- Patients should not take a 5mg tablet dose of finasteride as advertised on some websites. Take these tablets would equate to taking 5 times the recommended dose and you would be at high risk from unpleasant side effects. This dosage is designed for the treatment of prostrate related illness and is marketed under the brand Proscar™
